ZANE DALE CHRISTIAN

The epitome of a Virginia Gentleman, Zane Dale Christian, 86 of Bluefield, VA, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2019 at his home after a brief illness.

This is the true story of a man who walked a life of hard work, self-determination and integrity to earn the honor to become the "Legendary" Zane Dale Christian, Attorney and Counselor at Law.

On March 18, 1933 Dale was born in Jewell Ridge, Virginia. He graduated from Richlands High School where he was named Captain of the "All Area Football Team". During this time, at age fourteen, he "hitchhiked" to Texas to work in the oil fields in order to save money and further his education.

Dale attended the University of Houston before transferring to the University of Virginia where he graduated Dean's list. Shortly thereafter, in an hour long personal interview with the Dean of Admissions, he was accepted into the University of Virginia School of Law. He then passed the Virginia State Bar on his first try, thus began his successful career of 62 years as an attorney.

Virginia State Bar Association, Virginia Bar Association, Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, American Bar Association and served as President of the Tazewell County Bar Association.

Civic Associations:

District Governor of District 24-F International Lions Club, President, Bluefield Virginia Lions Club, Lion of the Year, President Graham Boosters Club, General Chairman, United Fund, Employees Division Chairman, Planning Commission for the Town of Bluefield, Virginia.

Preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Georgia Christian, Sisters, Elsie Taylor, Dixie Duke, Rita Chaney and a Brother, Nile Christian.

Survived by his beautiful loving wife of 68 years, Virginia McGlothlin Christian; Daughters, Chris Christian Bowles, Dixie M. Christian, April Christian Williams, husband John, and Son, Zane Fitzgerald Christian, wife Donna.

Grandchildren: Jessica Moroles Kuhn, husband Jeremy, Zane Chandler Christian, Ronizane Keats Williams, Rockford Kyle Williams, Brandon Cox and Ryan Cox.

Great-Grandchildren: Zane Grey Christian, Emma Grace Christian, Isabella Christian and Kaylynn Cox.

A visitation will be held Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Dudley Memorial Mortuary from 6:00-8:00 PM.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Graham Christian Church 1101 Virginia Avenue, Bluefield, Virginia at 2:00 PM with Reverend Gary Lyons officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Interment to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery, Bluefield, VA.
