WILLIAM "YOGI" EUGENE SMITH

William "Yogi" Eugene Smith, 65 of Springville, VA, went home to be with the Lord Friday, October 15, 2021.  Eugene was born in Bluefield, WV to the late William Warner and Lucy Barber Smith.  He was a 1975 graduate of Graham High School.  Eugene was an avid sports fan and a great fan of VA Tech and the St. Louis Cardinals.  Eugene worked as a butcher for Acme Market for nearly 30 years. He also worked for Food City, where he recently retired.  He was a faithful member of Brushfork First Church of God. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Helen Smith Cochran; brother-in-law: Bill Greer; niece: Pamela Cochran; great-nephew: Adam Fields.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sister: Louise Greer of Elizabethton, TN; brother-in-law: Reece Cochran of Bluefield, VA; nieces and nephews: Cathy (Eddie) Jones of Tazewell, VA, Shelia (Jack) Fields of Rocky Mount, VA, Melanie (Bill) Storie of Elizabethton, TN and Chuck (Amy) Greer of Tazewell, VA; 7 great-nieces and nephews; numerous cousins, friends and co-workers.

A service to honor the life of Eugene will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Dudley Memorial Chapel at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Jimmy Russ, Sr. officiating.  Burial will follow immediately at Grandview Memory Gardens.  Pallbearers will be: Chuck Greer, Stephen Fields, Aaron Smith, Kelly Smith, Jordan Robinson, Josh Storie, Bill Storie, Jack Fields and Mike Davidson.  Honorary pallbearers will include: Reece Cochran, Casey Jones, Gary Walker, Ronnie Lusk, Eddie Jones and Bernard Farley.

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday at Dudley Memorial from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of the service.
