WILLIAM ROBERT PATTON

William Robert (Bob) Patton, age 77, of Bluefield, VA peacefully passed away Saturday August 7, 2021 in Winter Haven, FL. He was the son of Herman and Nancy Patton of Bluefield, VA. Bob was a proud Army Veteran, serving from 1962-1965, in the 1 ^st Calvary Division during the Vietnam Era. He was awarded the Marksmanship (Rifle) and Sharpshooter (Rifle, M-14). He was a member of the Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church in Bluefield VA. He was also a member of the VFW Post #9696 and The American Legion Post #0122. Over the course of his life, Bob worked as an electrician in the coal mines, a mechanic at Randy's Service Station, and retired from Fairchild International, Glen Lyn, VA. He enjoyed fishing, shooting, and spending time with his much-adored cats. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Glenda and his parents. Left to cherish his memory are daughters Becky Gearheart (Charles Jr.), and Deby Brown (Scott), Grandchildren Andrew Brown (Rachel, wife), Nathan Brown, Victoria Gearheart, Stephanie Brown, Christian Gearheart, and Austin Brown, family friend John Puckett, Sisters Mary Frances Nichols, Wanda Meadors (Wally), Nancy Gaye Belgrano, Christa Lowe (Willie), Brother Jody Patton, best friend David Gwyer, great granddaughters Paige and baby expected in November and many nieces and nephews. Service to celebrate Bob's life will be held Thursday, August 12 ^th at Dudley Memorial Chapel at 1pm with Pastor Chris White officiating. Burial to follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens with Military Rights conducted by The Mercer County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 12pm until the hour of the service.
