VIRGINIA LOUISE "TOOKER" WHITTAKER
Virginia Louise "Tooker" Whittaker, 81 of Bluefield, WV, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday morning, February 2, 2016 at her home. Born in Bluefield, WV, she was the daughter of the late Creed Cornelius and Doney Ann Lewis Woody. She had been a homemaker her entire life. In earlier years, she loved Bingo and playing cards. She loved to shop and enjoyed gardening, especially roses. At 75, "Tooker" accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and definite changes in her life were evident of this commitment and she became a member of Guiding Light Worship Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Samuel "Sammy" Whittaker, Sr; sister: Nellie Corvin; grandson: Eric Asbury.
Those left to cherish her memory are children: Robert Samuel Whittaker, Jr and wife, Stacey of Princeton, WV, Juanita Haga of Bluefield, WV, Anita Turpin and companion, Bobby of Green Valley, WV, special children that she raised as her own: Shawn Asbury and Companion, Libby Martin of Bluewell, WV, Teigha Hazelwood and husband, Jonathan of Brushfork, WV, Jasmine Bailey and husband, Steve of Green Valley, WV, Cheyenne Mitchell and husband, Michael of Baton Rouge, LA; sisters: Shirley Koen and husband, James and Judy Woody; brother; Roger Woody and companion, Barbara; brother-in-law: Denver Corvin; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; special nephew and her pastor, Bobby Koen; special niece, Judy Koen; an extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and her church family and friends.
A service to celebrate "Tooker's" life will be held Friday, February 5, 2016 at Guiding Light Worship Center at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Bobby Koen officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family at Guiding Light Worship Center from 6:00 p.m. until the hour of service. In keeping with her wishes, the body will be cremated and a graveside service will be held at a later date at Maple Hill Cemetery.
