VELTA JEAN EARLS

Velta Jean Earls, 88 of Bluefield, VA, went home to be with her Lord Sunday, December 07, 2025.  Born in Bluefield, VA, she was the daughter of the late Robert Daniel Angles and Alice Luvenie Burkett Angles.  She was a loving sister, wife, mother and grandmother.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.  Ms. Jean loved the Lord Jesus and was faithful to attend Riverside Church of God as her health allowed.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of more than 67 years: Billy Eugene Earls, Sr; her siblings: Louise Bailey, Robert D. Angles, Jr, Anna Mae Fuller, Eunice Doss and Cathleen Shrader.

She will be lovingly missed by her son: Billy Earls, Jr and wife, Kim of Hurricane, WV; her beloved grandchildren: Kelly Thornton and husband, Doug of Houston, TX and Luke Earls and fiancé, Maya of Charlotte, NC; great-grandchildren: Izzy and Sam Thornton of Houston, TX.  The family would like to express a special Thanks to her roommate at Heritage Hall, Margaret Watson, and her 2 daughters, Laura Davis and Beverly Sweet for their kindness and care shown to Ms. Jean.

A service to celebrate Jean's life will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Dudley Memorial Chapel at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Matthew Hale officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Grandview Memory Gardens.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday from 12:30 P.M. until the hour of the service.
