VELMA JANE SPENCE WORRELL

Velma Jane Spence Worrell, 94 of Bluefield, VA, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019 in a Bluefield hospital. She was born February 11, 1925 in Tazewell County, VA, a daughter of the late James Joshua Spence and Minnie Bell Pruett Spence. She was a member of the Salem Primitive Baptist Church, Bandy, VA, for 76 years. She was an Avon representative in the West Graham area of Bluefield, VA for many years. She was also employed by the Town of Bluefield Virginia as a Meter Maid and retired as a Bluefield Virginia Police Department Dispatcher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Worrell; four brothers: Verne Spence, Lloyd Spence, Audrey Spence and Orval Spence; two sisters: Ilene Spence Bostic and Paula Spence McClanahan; two nieces: Cathy Spence and Carol Spence Earp.

Survivors include her two daughters: Celesta Starling (Ray) of Bluefield, WV and Ardena Neal (Gary) of Bluefield, VA; one sister: Ruth Beavers (Don) of Bluefield, VA; one grandson: Aaron Starling (Traci) of Rocky Gap, VA; two great-grandchildren: Morgan Johnson and Ivie Radford of Rocky Gap, VA; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 22, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, VA with Elders George Ben Combs, Ked Stacy and Henry Cantrell officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow in the Grandview Memory Gardens, Bluefield, VA. Visitation will be Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Dudley Memorial from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
