Vell R. Shrewsberry
Virginia Beach, Va. – Vell Shrewsberry 101, formally of Bluefield, passed away on Monday September 6, 2021 in Virginia Beach, Va where she had lived for the past six years.
Born in Princeton, WV she was the daughter of the late Martin Clark and Florence Reid. Vell was the consummate homemaker, and supported her husband with Bluefield Cleaners. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Bluefield for more than 60 years and was active in the Woman's Literary Club and other civic organizations. Her greatest pleasures were in providing a loving, warm home for family and friends. She delighted in preparing holiday feasts for family and guests and spent many hours decorating. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Diluard and three siblings, Jack Reid, Nell Callahan, Don Effron and grandson Jack Dove Jr.
Survivors include sons; Dr. Robert Shrewsberry and wife Carolyn of Virginia Beach, Va and Rodney Shrewsberry and wife Ginger of Powhatan, Va.; grandchildren Reid, Alex, and Rae Shrewsberry, and Jill Teetor; great-grand children, Hannah Dove, Jordan Brcic, Phillip Teetor, Brinley, Ainsley, Weston, Mack and Dean Shrewsberry.
The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful and loving care provided by the following caregivers during the last few years: Cyndi Arnold RN, Mia Alexander, Lorraine Jones, Jennifer Skahill, Candice Massey, Cyndi Schott, Kim Parsons and the wonderful staff of Intrepid Hospice Care.
Services will be held Saturday 11:30 am September 11, 2021 at the Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield Virginia, friends may visit with the family from 10:30 till the hour of service. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Princeton, WV. Pallbearers will be Alex Shrewsberry, Reid Shrewsberry, Marty Effron, Randy Effron, Bill Evans, Roy Shelton, Butch Carpenter, Vince Brown and Fred West.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Union Mission in Bluefield West Virginia.
