THELMA IRENE JOHNSTON

Thelma Johnston of Bluefield, VA passed away in her home on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. Born Thelma Irene Thomason in Princeton, WV, she was the daughter of Lewis and Irene Thomason, and was a graduate of Princeton High School.  She and husband W. Beaman Johnston married in 1962 and raised their family in Bluefield, VA. She spent over 20 years as the Office Manager for Bluefield Dance Theater, delighted in being surrounded by all of the children, and was a member of the Sarah Creasy Circle of Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by both parents, her son Marty Campanello (Washington, DC), and brothers Norman Thomason (Princeton, WV) and Jim Thomason (Bluefield, VA). She is survived by her husband, W. Beaman Johnston, children Jack Johnston (Wytheville, VA), Carla Ann Johnston Keene (Richlands, VA), Scott Johnston (Bluefield, VA), and Brian Johnston (Longmont, CO), granddaughter Caroline Keene (Richlands, VA) and brother Carl Thomason (Fredericksburg, VA).

Memorial services will be held at Dudley Funeral Home, 729 Virginia Avenue, Bluefield, VA on Saturday, March 17, 2018, with visitation starting at 5pm and the service at 6pm.
