Obituary

Steven Anthony Brown, 56 of Bluefield, VA died from injuries sustained in a farming accident on July 18, 2026.

Born on March 22, 1970, in Bluefield, WV, Steve was raised on Peel Chestnut Mountain in McDowell County, WV. He was the son of the late Clyde Anthony Brown and Joyce Glass Brown. He was a resident of Bluefield, VA for the last five years moving back to the area from Charlottesville, VA to be the caregiver of his beloved parents before their deaths. He was a graduate of Mount View High School in Welch, WV and Nashville Auto Diesel College in Nashville, TN and attended Bluefield State College. He currently worked at the United States Post Office in Nemours, WV and had been in the auto service industry with AutoZone, Advance, Cole Chervolet, and HC Lewis Oil Company in many places throughout WV and VA and was the owner of two auto part stores at one time.

Steve was a giving and helpful person throughout his life and spent his life helping others. In his time away from work Steve enjoyed genealogy, cutting down trees, restoring old cars, helping his sister with her horses and farm, spending time with his brother-in-law and nephew, and fishing with his brother. He especially loved being with his nephew teaching him the trades he had used all his life. Steve made an impact on all people he met and would not shy away from any request for help.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Barbara, paternal grandparents, Clyde G. Brown and Agnes Williams, and maternal grandparents, James and Effie Glass.

Greatly missing him are his brother Clyde Robert Brown, sister Mary Beth McGlothlin, brother-in-law and best friend Keith McGlothlin, and his beloved nephew Conner McGlothlin all of Bluefield, VA, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that he loved to help whenever there was a need. He is also survived by his three dogs Abby, Patches, and Sasha who he rarely left home without.

Steve's last sacrifice was to be an organ and tissue donor.

In keeping with Steve's wishes, he will be cremated and have a private interment by his family. A celebration of life and the impact he made on others will take place on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Dudley Memorial Mortuary, 729 Virginia Avenue, Bluefield, VA, from 4 to 6 pm. The celebration will conclude with a prayer conducted by his Aunt Dana Nester. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Nemours Ruritan Club, Nemours Vallery Road, Nemours, WV.
