SHIRLEY ELIZABETH TIBBS
Shirley Elizabeth Tibbs, 91 of Princeton, WV and formerly of Bluefield, VA, left this earth and flew to her heavenly home on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Princeton Community Hospital. She was born on April 21, 1924 in Bluefield, VA and lived there her entire life except for the last two and one-half years when she made her home at the Havens Assisted Living Facility in Princeton, WV. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley T Tibbs and Lelia Cox Tibbs and by her only sibling, Joseph S Tibbs and his wife, Fay.
Miss Tibbs was a graduate of Graham High School and McLeans Business College. Her entire bookkeeping career was spent at Bluefield Monument Company, where she served as secretary/treasurer. She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Bluefield, VA, a charter member of the Woolwine Fellowship Class and a member of the Martha Circle. She was a charter member of the church's Higher Education Loan Fund Committee and remained a member until her death. She was a former member of Quota International. Miss Tibbs was a talented seamstress and had a passion for needlework. Many of her friends are in possession of her beautiful creations. One of her favorite pastimes was working puzzles.
She is survived by two special cousins, Juanita Ramsey of Martinsville, VA and Mabel Lampkin of Ridgeway, VA, and several other cousins and many friends.
Graveside rites will be conducted Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery Chapel with Dr. Brad Scott and Dr. Don Scott officiating. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Maple Hill Cemetery Chapel by 10:45 a.m.
