SHIRLEY EVANS HOOD HAMM

Shirley Evans Hood Hamm, 81, of Tazewell, VA, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, May 10, 2019. Born in Tazewell, VA, she was the daughter of the late James Abraham and Mary Elizabeth Perry Evans. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She attended the Bluefield Virginia Church of God and loved going to church. Shirley loved to travel and enjoyed keeping in touch with and talking to her friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers: James and Paul Evans; her first husband: Robert "Shorty" Hood and her second husband: Wray Hamm.

She will be lovingly and affectionately missed by her children: Barry Hood and wife, Missy of Pounding Mill, VA, Bobby Hood and wife, Candy of Bluefield, VA and Carlene Baker and husband, Robbie of Big Stone Gap, VA; grandchildren: April Stout, Matt Stout, Robert "Bo" Stout, Lee Hood, Brandy Hood and James "Bubbie" Hood; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandson.

A Home Going celebration for Shirley will be held Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Dudley Memorial Chapel at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Jimmy Cox and Pastor Tony Ellis officiating. Burial will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, at Dudley Memorial from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service.

In lieu of flowers, it was her request that donations be made to: The American Heart Association or St. Jude's Hospital.

The family would like to thank her Heritage Hall family of staff and medical personnel for their compassion and concern while she was in their care.
