SHIRLEY FERN JOHNSON COX

Shirley Fern Johnson Cox, 86 of North Tazewell, VA, passed away Monday, January 03, 2022 at her home.  Born in Freeman, WV, she was the daughter of the late Otha Lee Johnson and Lillian Eugenia Hale Johnson.  Shirley enjoyed quiet time and reading her Bible.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Eula Mae Shell, Edna Viola (Polly) Miller, Margaret Ann Cheek, Ellenor Lucille (Sue) Kinser, Robert Lee Johnson and Carl Eugene (Pete) Johnson. She is also preceded in death by the father of her children: Oren Phlegar Cox and a granddaughter: Heather Dawn Cox.

She will be lovingly missed by her children: Oren Stanley (Stan) Cox and wife, Debbie, Darryl Kelly Cox and companion, Penny Sarver, who was Shirley's caregiver also; grandchildren: Melanie Whitley and husband, Shane, Joshua Alan Cox and fiancé Jodie Wilmer and Devin Leigh Cox ; great-grandchildren: Tori Whitley, Kayson Cox and Emily Cox.

A graveside service to celebrate Shirley's life will be held Friday, September 09, 2022 at Grandview Memory Gardens at 11:30 A.M. with Minister Tony Reed officiating.  Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 11:15 A.M.
