Selena Eleanor Keene, age 75, of Elkton, MD, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 19, 2015. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family who loved her dearly.
Mrs. Keene was born in Red Star, WV, to the late John A. and Ella Mae Neal Hart. She grew up in Tazewell, VA, where she met the love of her life, Jack Keene. They moved to Elkton to begin their lives and there, their marriage flourished for 55 years.
Mrs. Keene worked and retired from the Cecil County Board of Education. She was a beloved paraprofessional at Holly Hall Elementary School for 37 years, where she loved her co-workers and students. She was a member of Cornerstone Methodist Church, Bear, DE. Mrs. Keene always had a beautiful smile on her face and will be remembered for her loving heart and open arms. There was no such thing as a stranger to her.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Jack Keene; son, Mike Keene (Terri Dobbs), Bear, DE; daughter, Kim Price (Charles), Savannah, GA; and 4 grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Ryan, Jennsen, Zach, and Mason. She is also survived by her siblings, Ronnie Hart (Pat), Akron, OH, Phyllis Lindsey (Ed), Atlanta, GA, and Peggy Graham (Benny), Washington, WV.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Keene was preceded in death by her grandson, Tyler Keene Price; brothers, Bud, Charles, and Frank; and sister, Connie Mills.
Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Dudley Memorial Chapel, with Jim Bassett officiating and visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Grandview Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Chris Austin, Randy Collins, Zach Heath, Mason Keene, Ryan Price and Braeden Keene. Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Austin, Preston Greer, Hal Keene, Randy Keene, Jovanne Saldierna and Hunter Vasquez.
