SALVATORE "SAM" TAGNESI
Salvatore "Sam" Tagnesi, 87 of Bluefield, VA, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Westwood Nursing Center. Born in Maitland, WV, he was the son of the late Guiseppi "Joe" and Catherine "Katie" Serin Tagnesi. He served his country as a Sgt in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW Post #9696. He loved the Washington Redskins, Nascar, playing cards and Country Music. Sam was well loved by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Louise Perry Tagnesi; sister: Mary Harshbarger.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son: Mike Tagnesi of Bluefield, VA; brothers: John (Kathy) Tagnesi of Winchester, VA, Tom (Betty) Tagnesi of Glen Carbon, IL, Joe (Debbie) Tagnesi of Charleston, WV; sisters: Josephine Dickerson, Fannie Rose and Teresa Osburn all of Vinton, VA; brother-in-law: Elmer Harshbarger, Barboursville, WV; grandson: Mike J Tagnesi II.
A service to celebrate Sam's life will be held Monday, January 11, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Rev. Russ Hatfield officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell, WV, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Military grave rites will be conducted by the VFW Post #9696 and the Pocahontas American Legion Post #14. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday, January 11, 2016 at Dudley Memorial from 12:00 noon until the hour of the service.
