ROGER LEE PROFFITT

Roger Lee Proffitt, 77 of Bluefield, VA, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 20, 2024.  Born in Bluefield, VA, he was the son of the late Clarence Edward and Elizabeth Lucille Asbury Proffitt.  Roger had retired from First Community Bank.  He attended Riverside Community Church.  Gardening vegetables and flowers and yard work in general, were some of the things Roger enjoyed doing.  He could be found shopping at Walmart, daily, sometimes several times a day.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Ed Junior Proffitt, Charles Allen Proffitt, Delores Ann Proffitt and Virginia Proffitt. Roger was a loving son, father, companion and brother.  He will be missed by all who loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his companion of 26 years: Eugenia Fuller Stump; his daughter: Melissa "Missy" Proffitt; sisters: Louise Sexton, Lena Hodge and husband, Michael, Ruth Byrd and husband, Tommy and Pam Ball; numerous nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Roger's life will be held Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Dudley Memorial Chapel at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Matthew Hale officiating.  Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens.  Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday evening at Dudley Memorial from 5:00 P.M. til 7:00 P.M.
