ROGER LEE FARMER

Roger Lee Farmer, 75 of North Tazewell, VA, (Springville) went to his heavenly home on Saturday, March 12, 2022.  He passed away peacefully in his sleep with family by his side. He was born in West Virginia and was the son of the late Breece and Lucille Presley Farmer.   He was a happy person with a laugh that no one could forget.  He was an over the road truck driver for 46 years with several trucking firms.  He retired from JB Hunt in 2006 because of health problems.  Roger was an avid fan of wrestling and had serve his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He attended Wright's Valley United Methodist Church.  He was a dedicated husband, father and popaw.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Patty Basham Farmer; 2 sons: Donnie Farmer and wife, Alicia of Sunbury, PA and David Farmer and wife, Amber of York, PA; 5 grandchildren: Katie Cole and husband, Jamel, Alyssa and Davy Farmer all of Springville, VA, Hunter Greiner  and Shiloh Farmer of York, PA; 5 sisters: Phyliss Hagy of Ohio, Wanda Weedman of Kentucky, Norma Iubatti of Delaware, Sandy Barbour and husband, Rick and Judy Surber of Bassett, VA; 2 brothers: Randy Farmer and wife, Patti and Mike Farmer and wife, Betty all of Bassett, VA; several nieces and nephews; his precious furbaby: Piper, who he loved and spoiled rotten; former daughter-in-law and friend: Christine Smothers.

A service to celebrate Roger's life will be held Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jim Horn officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Noah Thomason, Frank Farmer, Randy Farmer, Mike Farmer, Davy Farmer and Samuel Vance. Jamel Cole will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Dudley Memorial from 5-7 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, it is the family's request that donations be made to the American Heart or the American Kidney Foundation.
