Robert Daniel
Perry
Oct 28, 1940 — Feb 11, 2025
Bluefield
October 28, 1940 – February 11, 2025
Robert "Bob" Daniel Perry, 84, of Bluefield, VA, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. Bob passed away unexpectedly in his home after a very brief illness, which was a blessing as he left this early world the way he wanted… quietly, simply and without suffering or complication. Bob lived a life of humility, honestly and dedication to his family and friends.
Bob is survived by his son David Perry, and Jennifer Pakebusch of Savannah, GA; grandson Brandon Perry, who is currently a Sergeant in the US Army's 82nd Airborne Division, his wife Jessica and newborn great-grandson Beau of Raleigh, NC; granddaughter Nikki Fiducioso, her husband Joseph and great-grandsons Austin, Caleb, Adrian, and Kameron of Colorado Springs, CO; and granddaughter Leah Freeman of Oklahoma City, OK.
Bob is preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Beatrice Perry, step-sons, Donald Thompson and Mark Thompson and wife Sheila; his siblings Jean Boone and James Perry; and his parents Myrtle and Daniel Perry.
Bob lived his entire life in the Bluefield area. He was the youngest of 3 children born to Myrtle Perry, just 18 days after his father, Daniel Perry, was killed in a coal mining accident. He was raised in the tight-knit community of Nemours, WV where his mother owned and operated Perry Grocery. Bob moved to Bluefield, VA in 1968 after marrying Bea, who he said after first meeting her would one-day be his wife. They spent the next five and half decades together navigating the ups and downs of life, love, and family. Through all the years, Bob's passion in life was taking care of his family. He lived the mantra of a hard-working provider for his family and a good friend to many. He valued true and caring relationships built on honesty, respect, and an understood love. He worked at A&P Grocery in Bluefield, VA and Princeton, WV until their closing, then he spent the remainder of his career at Applied Industrial Technologies in Bluefield, WV. His work had him traveling daily throughout the region where he formed many lasting friendships and bonds. He also worked privately as a certified electrician for many years, adding to his efforts to provide for his family and serve others. Anyone who knew Bob would tell you he was a good, simple, and honest man that loved to talk and share stories of life, and that he would be there to help on a moment's notice.
Bob's record of life lessons he shared with his family and friends was never more apparent than during the last two years when he dedicated everything about himself to caring for his wife during her prolonged illness. Bob was a quiet man who struggled understanding God's grace and how so much evil
existed in this world. But through the faith that Bea exhibited during her illness and the gentle, well-timed, and loving attention of Pastor Mark Asbury, Bob did find his path to peace. He is now reunited with his wife, meeting Jesus and gaining an understanding of the world beyond anything we can imagine. And he will undoubtedly continue his legacy as he watches over the next generation of his namesake, Beau Baker Perry, from heaven above.
Honoring Bob's wishes of a humble passing, we will be celebrating Bob's life on Saturday, February 15, 2025. Friends are asked to join the family at Dudley Memorial Mortuary in Bluefield, VA beginning at 11:00 AM to share memories and fellowship about Bob. After this informal time together, a brief service will take place from 12:30 to 1:00 PM. Weather permitting, burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. Pastor Mark Asbury of Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church will be officiating.
May God's blessings reign down upon Bob as he lived a life of humility, honestly and love in action as demonstrated by the example of Jesus, and may we all find comfort believing in God's promise for our heavenly salvation.
