ROBERT DAVID LANEY

Robert David Laney, 76, of Tazewell, VA, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Westwood Nursing Home.  Born in Cliffield, VA, he was the son of the late Willard and Hazel O'Quinn Laney.  He was a member of the Church of God in Thompson Valley.  He enjoyed yard sales and flea marketing and he loved golf.  He had a pleasant personality.  He served his country in the United States Army and had worked for Pounding Mill Quarry for over 40 years.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Ronnie Laney, Larry Laney, James Laney and Juanita Hess.

He will be lovingly missed by his wife of nearly 53 years: Jean Brown Laney; his son and daughter: Shannon Laney of Tazewell, VA and Kimberly Laney and fiancée, Robert Cornwell of N. Tazewell, VA; sisters: Mary Horn of Tazewell and Laura Hanshew of N. Tazewell, VA; grandson:  Noah Mabe of N. Tazewell.

In keeping with his wishes, his body will be cremated.  A private celebration of life will be held by the family.
