ROBERT JESSE JOHNSTON, JR.
Robert Jesse Johnston, Jr, 79 of Bluefield, VA passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Born in Dublin, VA, he was the son of the late Robert Jesse and Ruth Cecil Johnston. Mr. Johnston had graduated from Dublin High School and from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor's Degree. He had worked for Rish Equipment as Vice President of Sales and was partner and founder of Global Equipment in London, Kentucky. He had served his country in the United States Navy. An active member in the First Presbyterian Church, Bluefield, WV, Bob had served as an Elder and a Deacon and on many committees, including the Administration Committee as Property Manager. He had been a long time member of the Fincastle Country Club, the Sales Executive Club and a supporter of the Bluefield Union Mission. In his life span, he had mastered the art of gardening, was an avid golfer and enjoyed dancing. In all his accolades, he was most proud to be a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas Lee Johnston.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years: Joyce Jesse Johnston; his son: Robert "Rob" J. Johnston III and his wife Leslie Sharp Johnston of Mobile, AL; brother: David Johnston and wife Carolyn of Danville, VA; his grandchildren, the loves of his life, Mary Caroline and Robert Maxwell "Max" Johnston of Mobile, AL; several nieces and nephews
A service to celebrate Bob's life will be held Saturday, October 31, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church, Bluefield, WV at 11:00 A.M. with Rev Kellan Sarles officiating. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memory Mausoleum. Fred Dodson, Hampton Lazenby, Mark Johnson, Bill Looney, Harold Lee Miller and Byron Satterfield will serve as pallbearers. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday at the Church from 10:00 A.M. til the hour of the service. Dudley Memorial is serving the Johnston family.
