ROBERT EUGENE "GENE" COMPTON

Robert Eugene "Gene" Compton, 90 of Bluefield, VA, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019 at his home. Born in Richlands, VA, he was the son of the late Paul Bascom and Exie Shelton Compton. He loved fishing, hunting, camping and especially loved going to the beach. He attended 113 Luther Street Home Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Linda Jo Helton Compton; son: Ricky Eugene Compton; brother: Paul Compton, Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son: Paul Compton and wife, Carol of N. Tazewell, VA; brothers: William Compton and wife, Maxine of Athens, WV, Ronnie Compton and wife, Annette of Bluefield, VA and Jack Compton and wife, Veronica of Bland, VA; grandchildren: Ginger Compton, April Hensley and husband, David, Molinda Bailey and husband, Luke, Paula Compton, Robert Compton, Farrah Compton and step-grandson, Justin Rose; numerous great- grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

A service to celebrate Gene's life will be held Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Pastor Lonnie Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens. Caleb Fritz, Greg Deel, Justin Blankenship, Kevin Compton, Dane Quick, Todd Compton, Noah Young and Jimmy Hallsey will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, at the funeral home from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of the service.
