RITA MCFARLAND
Rita McFarland, 57 of Bluefield, VA, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, VA. Born in Bluefield, WV, she was the daughter of William "Rusty" Roaten and the late Rachel Lewis Roaten. She had been a faithful homemaker for her life and loved to go to yard sales. She seldom bought for herself, always buying for her family and others. Her spending at the Union Mission was her way of supporting the organization.
She will be lovingly and affectionately missed by her dad: Rusty Roaten of Bluefield, VA; her husband: Rickie D. McFarland of Bluefield, VA; her son: Matthew McFarland of the home; her daughter: Sherena Perdue of Bluefield, VA; her siblings: Gene, Bobby and Jeff McCall all of Bluefield, VA, Pat McCall and companion, Jimmy Compton of Bluefield, VA, Elizabeth Canaday of Princeton, WV and Rachel Cook of Bluefield, VA; and an extended cherished family of nieces and nephews; her fur baby: Stumpy, who she was passionate about.
In keeping with her wishes, her body will be cremated. There will be no public visitation. There will be a memorial service to celebrate Rita's life on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 5:30 P.M. at the Bluefield Virginia Church of God on Highland Avenue with Pastor Tony Ellis and Pastor Rick Bourne officiating.
In keeping with Rita's request, and her family's, also, that no flowers be sent, but rather that donations be made to the Bluefield Virginia Church of God, Highland Avenue, Bluefield, VA 24605.
