RICHARD THURMAN JESSEE, SR.
Richard Thurman Jessee, Sr, 92 of Bluefield, WV and formerly of Bluefield, VA, passed away Monday, September 21, 2020. Born in Falls Mills, VA, he was the son of the late Eli Hugh Kyle Jessee and Annie Louise Buckland Jessee. He was a member of the Falls Mills Christian Church and enjoyed the family getting together. Richard was a poet, a song writer and a musician, playing various stringed instruments with a natural God-given talent. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and hunting. Richard was always fashionably well dressed and was an advocate for physical fitness, especially walking. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: James Edward and Olin Jessee; son: Steven Patrick Jessee; granddaughter: Ashley Michelle Carter.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of over 69 years: Norma Delores Naticchione Jessee; his children: Sharon Denise Carter of Hayes, VA, Richard Terry Jessee and wife, Ann of Thaxton, VA, Richard Thurman Jessee, Jr of Bluefield, VA, Roger Dean Jessee and wife, Beth of Princeton, WV, Rodney Lee Jessee and wife, Michelle of Surry, VA and Ronald Wayne Jessee and wife, Sandi of Princeton, WV; siblings: Catherine Leedy and husband, Ken of Newport News, VA, Pat Higgs of Eugene, Orgeon, Cecelia Ann Smith of Newport News, VA and John Cecil Jessee of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren: Erica Carter, Kevin Jessee, Sheena Tatem, Brian Jessee, Nicholas Jessee, Danielle Watters, Jennifer Brown, Chris Jessee, Kim Lane, Faith Jessee, Sarah Jessee and Amber Jessee; great-grandchildren: Jack Tatem, Ryder Jessee, Sage Lane, James Jessee, Julia Jessee, Eleanor Watters, Adrianna Jessee, Sybil Lane, Aaron Jessee and one expected.
In keeping with the family's wishes, there will be no public visitation. There will be a private family graveside service.
