Obituary

Ramona Ray Woodson of Bluefield, W.Va. went to be with the Lord on July 6, 2022.

Born in Lawrence County, Ind., Aug. 17, 1932, she was the daughter of Stanford B. and Vurl Hillenburg Ray, and lived her childhood in various places in Indiana, Washington D.C. and Bladensburg, Md.

She was married to Rev. C. Merrill Woodson on May 30,1953, and served with him in the following Virginia Baptist churches: Slate Hill, Charlottesville; Fluvanna, Scottsville; Mentow, Huddleston; Riverside, Chilhowie; Greenfield, Meadowview; Reedy Spring, Spout Spring; Austinville, Wythe County; and in West Virginia, Northfork Baptist Church. They also served in home and rescue mission work in the Boston area, and also spent two years in Iowa, working with the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Mrs. Woodson was a member of Edgemont Baptist Church in Bluefield, and did volunteer work at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. She also taught Bible classes at various places.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Rev. C. Merrill Woodson; her parents and a sister, Sue Ray Howard, Linden, Ind.

Her survivors include Rev. Buddy Woodson (wife Lois), Scottsville, Va.; Rev. Bruce Woodson (wife Jewel) Bluefield, Va.; Brian Woodson, Abingdon, Va. (fiance' Nellie Stillwell, North Tazewell, Va.); and Christy Woodson Gay (husband David), Knoxville, Tenn. She had five grandchildren, April Woodson Scott, Luray, Va.; Dale Woodson, Scottsville, Va.; Lauren Woodson Hall, Roanoke, Va.; Ryan Woodson, Johnson City, Tenn; and Allie Gay, Eugene, Ore. She also had three great grandchildren.

Friends may call at Dudley Memorial Mortuary, 729 Virginia Ave, Bluefield, Va. on Friday, July 8, at 10 a.m. Services will follow at 11 a.m. with Dr. Chris Roberts, pastor of Edgemont Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Greenfield Baptist Church, Meadowview, Va., at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Randy Raynes, pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church, Mansfield, Ohio, presiding.
