PIERCE GLEN CRABTREE

Pierce Glen Crabtree, 90 of Bluefield, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 09, 2024.  He was born January 15,1934 to the late George G. and Lucille Watson Crabtree.  Pierce was a veteran and was proud to have served our country in the U.S. Navy.  He worked for the Bluefield Supply Company for over 25 years and later retired from the Springville Elementary School.  He loved his family and spending time together traveling and sightseeing.  He took special interest in historical sites, Dollywood and the Great Smokey Mountains.  He was always there to support and care for his family and friends.  He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Bluefield, VA, where he enjoyed singing in the choir and for other special music in his church. Through the years, he served as a Deacon and was involved in other activities.  Pierce also enjoyed singing with the late Rev. Lacy Brooks and other church members during their weekly visits to the area nursing homes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George W. Crabtree, twin sister, Peggy Jones Farley and sister, Sara M. Vest.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 65 years, Shirley Smart Crabtree and his daughter, Cindy Crabtree.  He is also survived by his brother, Charles Crabtree and wife, Teresa of Laurens, SC; sister, Sue Hollyfield of Bluefield, VA; brother-in-law, Curtis Vest of Bluefield, VA; nephew, Keith Abel and wife, Tammy of Bluefield, VA; niece, Suzanne Kelley and husband, Kevin of Bluefield, WV and several other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at the Memorial Baptist Church in Bluefield, VA at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. Bill Lykins officiating.  Entombment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Bluefield, VA.  Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.  Friends may visit with the family prior to the service from 12:00-1:00 P.M.

A very special "Thank you" to all of the MSA Hospice nurses and aides for their care and support for Pierce and his family during the past several months.  We appreciate everything you all did for us.
