NORMA JEAN HALE BOURNE

Adored mother to many, Norma Jean Hale Bourne of Bluefield, VA, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 91 years of age. Born on June 13, 1932 in Bluefield, WV, she was the daughter of the late Sidney R. Hale and Willie Henderson Hale, and adoptive stepdaughter to Louise Britton Hale.

As a young woman, Norma Jean was a graduate of Beaver High School, class of 1950. Along with her husband, Mrs. Bourne worked for Verizon Telephone Company for 40 years as a dedicated professional. A deeply devoted and active member of Graham Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), she served as a past deacon, elder, and faithfully participated in the church choir and the Christian Women's Fellowship.

Norma Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, William Kyle Bourne of Bluefield, VA. Cherished by all, she will be greatly missed by her daughter Deborah Jean and husband Alan Forrest of Radford, VA, her son William Joseph (Joe) Bourne and wife Kimberly of Bluefield, VA, her grandson Joseph Tanner Bourne of Chapel Hill, NC, along with countless other family members, dear friends, and her treasured community.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 12:30 PM at the Dudley Memorial Mortuary in Bluefield, followed by funeral services at 1:30 PM. Norma Jean Bourne will be interred at Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations if desired may be made to the Joash Fund, Graham Christian Church, 1101 Virginia Avenue, Bluefield, Virginia 24605.
