Obituary

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mildred "Millie" E. Wilburn on September 12, 2019 at the age of 96. Formerly of Bluefield, VA she lived at the The Havens in Princeton, WV and for a short time at Commonwealth Senior Living in Claypool Hill, VA.

Born in McComas, WV on December 10, 1922 she attended schools in Montcalm and McComas graduating in 1941. She was employed at National Electric Coil Company and attended evening classes at the McComas Business College. She went on to work for Bluefield Hardware until her retirement. She enjoyed many years wintering in Florida with her husband Frank and continued to enjoy going alone after his death until she was 92.

Millie was a member of Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church in Bluefield, VA where she was an active member of the Sarah-Creasy Circle, served on the Administrative Board, the Parsonage Committee and others. She was also active in her church in Florida and leaves a host of friends there.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, parents Walter & Edith Huffman and stepmother Thelma all of McComas, WV.   Sisters Audrey Armes, Marie Lee Howell and Lucille Repass. Brothers Fred Huffman, Jimmie Huffman, Archie Huffman and infant Junior Huffman. One sister survives her, Katie Burgess of Pekin, Illinois.

Millie is survived by her son Barry Lee Frye (wife Karen), granddaughter Jordan (husband Michael) and grandson Brett all of Douglasville, Georgia. She was the great grandmother of Harper Lamar, Harper Emily, Maddie Jimerson and Cole.

Millie was the stepmother of the late Jerry Wilburn whose wife Carole survives him. She was also the grandmother of Jay (wife Maria), Scott (wife Rosemarie), Steve (wife Stephanie) and Mark, all of Northern Virginia.

Millie was the great grandmother of Chase, Cole, Emma, Avery, Gavin, Tiffany and Brittany.

Services will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at the Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church in Bluefield, Virginia with the Reverend Ray Petty officiating. A luncheon is being served by the ladies of the church at 12:00 noon with visitation until 2 P.M. when we will gather in the church to celebrate her amazing life. For those that are able a short gravesite interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetary in Bluefield., Virginia.

Pallbearers are grandsons Steve, Scott, Jay (Wilburn) Brett Frye and great grandsons Chase and Cole Wilburn.

Honorary pallbearers are her son Barry Frye and dear friend of the family Bob Clendenen.

The families wish to thank everyone for their presence here today – she would be amazed at the outpouring of love for her.
