MICHAEL CHRISTOPHER SMITH

Michael Christopher Smith, 36 of Christiansburg, VA was called home by his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 5, 2021. Born in Bluefield, July 03, 1984 To Danny and Lecia Smith, he was a 2002 graduate of Graham High School and a 2008 graduate of Virginia Tech, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mining and Minerals Engineering. Chris was a bright, brilliant soul to all who knew him. He will be remembered for his sharp wit, keen sense of humor and caring nature. He was the favorite Thanksgiving guest of his Charlottesville cousins and his kind nature was so infectious, even the family pets preferred him over all others. He was a devoted Hokie and enjoyed watching Virginia Tech games with his father, Danny.

Chris leaves behind his wife, Jessica Marcus of Bluefield, WV and two daughters, Elysabeth Mae and Emery Jean. He is also survived by his loving parents, Danny and Lecia Smith of Okatie, SC and Bluefield, VA; maternal grandmother, Rheda Mae Gallimore of Princeton, WV; his twin sister, Bethany Smith of Okatie, SC and brother, Tye Griffith of Virginia Beach, VA. He is also survived by uncles, Ed Smith of Bluefield, VA, Ron Gallimore and wife, Paula of Johnson City, TN, Steve Gallimore of Princeton, WV; aunts, Teresa Gallimore of Princeton, WV and Caroline Smith Shaffrey and husband, Mark of Charlottesville, VA. He was preceded in death by maternal   grandfather, Ron Gallimore; paternal grandparents, Eleanor and Henry Smith and aunt, Wendy Smith Gentry.

Friends and family are invited to a service to celebrate Chris's life on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Maple Hill Cemetery Chapel at 11:00 A.M. with Craig Hammond officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of the service.
