MARY ELIZABETH BROYLES WALLACE
Mary Elizabeth Broyles Wallace, 89, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Princeton Community Hospital.
She was born October 5, 1927 in Bluefield, VA and was the daughter of the late Audney Blaine Broyles Sr and Minnie Victoria Hopkins Broyles. Mary was a lifelong member of the Springville Christian Church, where she served as Secretary/Treasurer, was an active member of the ladies group, sang in the church choir and served as volunteer wherever she was needed. Mary graduated from Graham High School at the age of 15 and continued her education at McLain's Business College, where she completed the Executive Secretarial course. She worked for Southern Maid, Inc., L.D. Feuchtenberger Bakery, Fairmont Foods, Valley Bell Dairy and Borden Inc. She retired as Head Bookkeeper with 31 years of service. Mary was passionate about her faith in God and always believed that happiness does not depend on our circumstances, but is found within our heart. She had a sweet spirit and a loving heart that will be missed by all of those who knew her. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James Robert (Bob) Wallace. Bob was the love of Mary's life. They were married June 23, 1951 in Grundy, VA by Preacher Charles M. Sublett. She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Audney Blaine Broyles, Jr. and Joseph Thomas Broyles. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by her two daughters: Melissa Annette Wallace Simpson of the home and fiancé, Randy Yost of Bluefield and Jeanette Elizabeth Wallace Brammer and husband, Ray of St Albans, WV; four grandchildren: Kelly Simpson Wright and fiancé, Kevin Bennington of Roanoke, VA, Lori Simpson of Bluefield, WV, Jeremy Ranson and wife, Jennifer of St. Albans, WV, Joy Ranson Perkins and husband, Tom of Clarksville, TN; seven great-grandchildren: Britney Witham and Linsey Umberger of Roanoke, VA, Jacob and Mary Elisabeth (twins) and Brady Ranson of St. Albans, WV, Hannah and Zoe White of Clarksville, TN.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Springville Christian Church on the Bluefield-Tazewell Road with Minister Tony Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be men of the Springville Christian Church. Honorary pallbearers will be all other men of the church. The family will receive friends at Dudley Memorial Mortuary on Friday, December 9, 2016 from 6-8 p.m.
