Marietta Lowman Peters of Beckley, WV, formerly from Bluefield, WV, left this world for her heavenly home on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at the age of 93 years young.

Mrs. Peters, or "Nana" as she is lovingly known,  was born January 26, 1925, in McComas, WV, to the late Wade Merriman Lowman and Bessie Allen Rudisill. She grew up in the coal mining towns of Bishop, WV, and Landgraff, WV, with her parents, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Marietta graduated from Northfork High School in 1938 and attended the National Business College in Bluefield. She served as Secretary to the Vice President at Bluefield Hardware, and later became a licensed Realtor spending several years with Century 21 in Bluefield and Princeton.

Her greatest accomplishment was being a mother to her daughters, grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her favorite time of year was Christmas with her family, which she prepared for all year. Nana also loved spending time with her family at the annual Lowman Family Reunion. She spent the last few months taking trips with her daughter, visiting relatives, and spending quality time with her grandchildren and great-granddaughters. She will be greatly missed by those that had the pleasure of knowing her.

Marietta is preceded in death by husband, Preston Peters; daughter, Judy Peters Dudley; brothers, Robert "Bob" Lowman, Raymond Lowman, and Charlie Lowman; sisters, Maxine Lowman Feigley, and Geraldine "Jackie" Lowman; son-in-law, Harold "Nick" Nicholson; and sister-in-law, Doris Lowman.

Marietta is survived by her daughters, Donna Peters Ellison of Beckley, WV, and Mary Lou Peters Nicholson of Sarasota, FL; sisters, Ramona Lowman of Greenville, SC, and Billie Jean Lowman Simmons of Huntington, WV; grandchildren, Kevin Dudley and wife Jeani of Bluefield, VA; Glenna Dudley Gaboriault of Bluefield, VA; Ginger and Mike Cowan of Chester, IL; Craig Nicholson of Sarasota, FL;
Joshua Murphy and wife Nikki of Atlanta, GA; Zachary Murphy of Beckley, WV; Leah Ellison of Breckenridge, CO; and Kelli Ellison Brisby and husband, Danny Brisby of Greensboro, NC. Also left behind are her precious great-grandchildren who were her pride and joy: Nikki Cowan and Todd Cowan, Jeremy Nicholson and Nathan Nicholson, Makena Jean (13) Bailey Lynn (12), Avery Ann (9), Madison Nicole (8), Emily Ann (8), Alexandra Loren (3) and Victoria Elizabeth (6 months). Nana also leaves behind one great-great-grandchild, Anna. Nana also leaves behind many loved nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, June 3rd at Dudley Memorial Mortuary in Bluefield, VA. The family will receive visitors beginning at 12:30pm and the funeral service will be held at 1:30pm. Marietta will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV.
