MARGUERITE ELIZABETH SMITH

Marguerite Elizabeth Smith, 99 of Bluefield, VA, passed away Sunday, July 07, 2019. Born in Bluefield, VA, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Rufus and Laura Louise Stimson Ashworth. She was an active, lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church since 1929 and was a member of the Woolwine Fellowship Class. At the age of 72, she retired as secretary from Dr. Lester's and Dr. Thomas's office practice. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: James Kenton Smith; brothers: Samuel and Joseph Ashworth; granddaughter: Shanna Angeline Evans.

She will be lovingly missed by her daughter: Karen Evans; grandson: Chance Evans; great-grandsons: Jayden and Jayce Evans all of Bluefield, VA; niece: Vicky Eggleston; nephews: Joe Ashworth Jr and Samuel A Evans.

A service to celebrate Marguerite's life will be held Thursday, July 11, 2019 at First United Methodist Church at 6:00 P.M. with Rev Ray Amos and Rev Jay Ferguson officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the Church on Thursday from 5:00 P.M. until the hour of the service. A private family graveside will be at Maple Hill Cemetery. Men of the Woolwine Fellowship Class will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Dudley Memorial to help with the incurred funeral expenses.
