M. ERVIN RICH, JR.

M. Ervin Rich, Jr. 91, of Bluefield, VA passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 2, 2023. Born on September 17, 1931 in Emporia, VA the son of the late M. E. (Mark E.) Rich, Sr and Martha Lou Neel Rich. He was preceded in death by his first wife Roberta Ann Moyer Rich, the mother of his children.

He was a graduate of Graham High School and served four years in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Bluefield, VA.  He was involved in many community services, including Habitat for Humanity, Town of Bluefield Planning Commission, Bluefield VA, Business and Professional Association and the Bailey Log House Project.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Carter Rich, sons, William E. Rich and wife Karen of Bluefield, VA, R. Macon Rich and wife Teresa of Staunton, VA daughter Marti Rich Scott and husband Chris of King, NC, a stepdaughter, Donna M.  Workman of Palmyra, VA. Nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, N. Neel Rich of Emory, VA, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to First United Methodist Church, 200 S. College Ave., Bluefield, VA 24605.

A celebration of his life will be conducted on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Bluefield, VA with the Rev. Dr. James "Jay" R. Ferguson, Jr. and the Rev. Dr. William D. Scott officiating.

A time of visitation will follow in Palmer Hall.
