LARRY WAYNE MCFARLAND
Larry Wayne McFarland, 77 of Bluefield, VA, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at New River Valley Medical Center. Born in Springville, VA, he was the son of the late Archie Edward McFarland and Virginia Margaret Lawson McFarland. Larry was a hard worker and firmly believed if you wanted something, you must work for it. He had worked for Platnick Brothers and retired from Pemco with over thirty years of service. He loved sports, especially golf, Nascar and football, specifically, Bluefield Beavers and West Virginia University. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with the men he grew up with. Larry loved fishing, riding his boat and working in his garden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Edward Lee and Eugene McFarland.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 47 years: Pamela Kay Tibbs McFarland; son: Michael McFarland of Mitchells, VA; step-daughter: Tammy Godfrey (Randy) of Bluefield, WV; sisters: Phyllis Lewey, Brenda Smith and Sandy Sluss (Donald) all of Bluefield, VA and Betty Boothe of Ararat, VA; brother: Barnes McFarland (Hope) of Bluefield, WV; grandchildren: Ashton Pizzini, Kaitlyn Scaggs, Christian McFarland, Issaiah McFarland and Holly and Noah McFarland, who made their home with him as he was like a father to them; great-grandchildren: Aeydin, Arianna, Antonio and Ace Pizzini, Millie Rose Scaggs and Kacen McFarland;
A service to celebrate Larry's life will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Pastor Steve Branch officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens. Scott Tibbs, Christian McFarland, Byron Cole, Adam Pizzini, Christopher Boothe and David Bane will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday at Dudley Memorial from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of the service.
In lieu of flowers, it's the family's request that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of your choice.
The family would like to give special recognition to the doctors, nurses and staff at New River Valley Medical Center Progressive Care Unit for their love and care during Larry's sickness.
