KELLY SAWYERS, JR.

Kelly Sawyers, Jr, 75, of River Bend Estates, Bluefield, VA, died Saturday, May 31, 2025 peacefully in his sleep at his home.  Kelly was born on October 19, 1949 in Bluefield, WV and was the son of the late Mary Mahaly Rickman Sawyers and Kelly Sawyers, Sr.  He was a member of Midway Christian Church in Bluefield, WV.  He was a 1968 graduate of Bluefield High School.  Kelly joined the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War with the 173rd Airborne.  He was a member and past master of Bluefield Mercer Lodge #85 AF&AM.  He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans No. 528 and a member of the DAV.  He was also a member of VFW 9696.  He was employed as Parts Salesman for Carter Machinery for 47 years and was an avid shag dancer with the Bluefield Shag Society.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his only son, Kelly Sawyers, III, brother, Marshall Sawyers and half-brother, John Dawson.

He is survived by brothers: Randy Sawyers and David Sawyers; granddaughters: Kaitlyn Maxwell, Carly Helton and Courtney Sawyers; great-granddaughters: Clara Maxwell and August Helton; niece: Brooke Sawyers; great-niece: Jocelyn Green; great-nephew: Brayden Green; significant other: Sandy Musick.

A service to celebrate Kelly's life will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at Dudley Memorial Chapel at 2:00 P.M. with Minister Tony Reed officiating.  Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday at the funeral home from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of the service.
