JOEY NEWTON ASBURY
Joey Newton Asbury, 55 of Bluefield, VA, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. He was born in Richlands, VA and was the son of the late Melvin H and Janie Marie Lowe Asbury. He had worked as a machinist for Blue Ridge Wood Products. He enjoyed fishing. He also loved hard candy, especially Smarties, and biscuits and chocolate syrup.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; William, James, Ronnie and Mark Asbury.
He is survived by his brothers; Mike Asbury and Tommy Asbury both of Bluefield, VA, Sammy Asbury of Tennessee, Bobby Asbury of Florida and Kenny Asbury of Tazewell, VA; his sisters; Emma Jean Rose and husband, Billy of Bluefield, VA and Marie Otey and husband, Keith of Glenwood, WV; and an extended family of nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate Joey's life on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at Dudley Memorial with Pastor Ken Sprinkle officiating. Those wishing to visit with the family may do so at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until the hour of the service Thursday evening.
