JERRY DEAN PERDUE

Jerry Dean Perdue, Jr (JD), 43, of Bluefield, WV, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.  Born in Princeton, WV, he was the son of Jerry D. Perdue, Sr and Sandra Codd both of Bluefield, WV.  Jerry graduated from Bluefield High School and attended Bluefield State University in 2016.  He studied Chinese/Mandarin Language and Culture at National Tiwan Normal University.  In 2019, he studied Curriculum and Instruction in Accomplished Teaching for his Master's Degree at Relay Graduate School of Education.  He also studied Master's of Education in higher Education and Student Affairs at Purdue Global.

Jerry accomplished so many things in his short time here on earth.  He loved life, loved living and learning.  He always looked at the positive side of life and never gave up.  He loved his family and spending time with his friends.  We are so proud of Jerry and all his accomplishments.  When God gave you to us, he gave us one of the best and we couldn't have asked for a better son.

Jerry was preceded in death by his grandparents: Alex and Laura Perdue of Bluefield, WV and Raleigh Collins and Shirley Johnson of Bramwell, WV; stepfather: James J. Codd of Bluefield, WV and stepmother: Jonnie Nicewonder of Bluefield, WV; stepsister: Celena Short of Bluefield, WV and several uncles and aunts.

Those left to cherish Jerry's memory are his parents: Jerry D. Perdue, Sr and Sandra Codd both of Bluefield, WV; sisters: Kristie Perdue of Princeton, WV and Alidia Perdue of Bluefield, WV; stepbrothers and stepsisters: Emma Nicewonder of Bluefield, WV, Alexis Nicewonder of Texas, Justin and Aunnie Codd of Bluefield, WV, Amber Codd of Princeton, WV, Brenden and Daytona Codd of Bluefield, WV, Jimmy and Lea Codd of Bramwell, WV and Alex and Misty Codd of Bluefield, WV; great-niece: Alidya Perdue Elliott; 2 special friends that he loved dearly: Melissa Epperson of Princeton, WV and Michael Bates; an extended family of uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

Jerry did not want a funeral service, so to honor his wishes, he will be cremated.  A memorial service of family and friends to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 4:00 P.M. at First Christian Church, 2200 Bland Road, Bluefield, WV, with Rev. Doug McDaniel officiating.
