JEAN PYLE HENDERSON MILLER
Jean Pyle Henderson Miller, 83 of Bluefield, VA went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 22, 2020. Born in Bluefield, WV, she was the daughter of the late George W. Pyle, Jr and Mildred Beulah Glover Pyle. She was a 1955 graduate of Graham High School and attended Hiawassee College. Jean was a faithful, active member of First United Methodist Church in Bluefield, VA where she was also a member of the Martha Circle and the Woolwine Fellowship Sunday School Class. She was also an active member of the This-n-That sewing club and the Virginia Garden Club of Bluefield VA. She loved to play the piano and quilt. She enjoyed watching her hummingbirds. She was an avid fan of Elvis Presley and George Strait, seeing them both in concert several times. Jean had worked in the Medical Records Department at the original Bluefield Sanitarium. In September of 1973, she worked two months to establish the Medical Records Department, now Health Information, at Tazewell Community Hospital before its opening in November 1973. She retired from Tazewell Hospital after 30 years of service, returning to volunteer. She was always willing to help others as needed and she loved her grandchildren with a passion.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter: Sammi Henderson Lambert of Doran, VA; brother: George W. "Buddy" Pyle, III and wife, Doris of St. Joseph, MO; sister: Anne P. Ivey and husband, Jerry of Yadkinville, NC; grandchildren: Blair C. Deskins of Cedar Bluff, VA and Haley D. Lambert of Doran, VA; nieces: Rene' Pyle, Suanne Baker and husband, Devin and Jennifer Holden and husband, Mike.
In keeping with her wishes, her body will be cremated and a memorial service to celebrate Jean's life will be held Saturday, January 16 th at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist, With DR Jay Ferguson and DR Don Scott officiating. Family and friends may visit one hour prior to service. Masks and social distancing will be required.
The family would like to thank Interim Health Care of Tazewell, VA and to Dr. Eric Shrader for their medical care and concern for Ms. Jean.
