Janet Sparks(February 7, 1929 - April 27, 2024)
Janet Sparks, age 95, of Springville, Virginia, passed away on April 27, 2024. She was born on February 7, 1929, in Thompson Valley, Virginia, the daughter of the late Thomas Robert Harrison and Polly Medley Harrison.

Janet was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She dedicated her life to her family, and her love knew no bounds. Janet's unwavering faith, kindness, and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.

In addition to being a dedicated homemaker, Janet enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to read, work on puzzles, and cook delicious meals for her loved ones. Janet was especially known for her delectable biscuits and her famous raisin cookies, which were a favorite among family and friends at Christmas.

Janet was a faithful believer of the Primitive Baptist faith and was baptized in July 1954 by Elder Stuart Owen's and Elder Thomas R. Harrison. She married her husband, Theodore Sparks, on August 16, 1949, and they shared 63 wonderful years together until his passing.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Theodore Sparks, her son Scotty Wayne Sparks, her great-great-grandchild Willow Elayne, and her siblings Quentin Harrison, Joe Beavers Harrison, James Forrest Harrison, Betty Jean Harrison Fields, and Martha Virginia Harrison Livesay.

Janet is survived by her brother Calvin Harrison and wife Thelma Harrison, daughters Martha Jean Smith and husband Rodney Smith, Carolyn Dianne Hoops and husband Jackie Hoops, sons Thomas Theodore Sparks and wife Brenda Sparks, and Kevin Dean Sparks. She is also survived by her grandsons William Michael Hoops, Rodney Charles Smith and wife Cortne Smith, Brandon Lee Hoops and wife Stephanie Hoops, Thomas Scott Smith and wife Rebecka Smith, granddaughter Abigail Keeley Riffe and husband Brandon Riffe, along with 6 great-grandchildren: Britney Hoops, Samantha Hoops, Linda Hoops and companion Anthony Simms, Victoria Hoops and companion Chad Yates, Andrew Hoops, Caleb Smith, Alden Hoops, and Dawson Riffe, and three great-great-grandchildren: Jakob Calfee, Judah Calfee, and Dean Allen Yates, due in August 2024.

Janet's funeral will be held at Dudley Funeral Home in Bluefield, Virginia, on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM. The funeral service will commence at 12:00 PM with Reverend Daniel Ingram, Elder Ezra Davis, Jr, and Elder Jack Angles officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Virginia.

William Hoops, Rodney Charles Smith, Brandon Hoops, Thomas Smith, friend of the family, Mike Young, and nephew, Don White, will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Helping Hands Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Janet.
