JAMES ROBERT THURSTON, JR
James Robert Thurston, Jr, 78, of Bluefield, VA, passed away Monday, August 8, 2016 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born at Flat Top, WV, he was the son of the late James Robert Thurston, Sr. and Carrie Virginia "GG" Neal Thurston Millsap. Mr. Thurston was a proud member of the Masons. He also was a member of the Elks and the Moose. He owned and operated Thurston's Drive-In in Princeton, WV from 1961 until 1973, at which time he became a salesman for Cliff Weils Inc. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Mae Hylton Thurston and his step-father, C.E. Millsap.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter: Pamela Raines and husband, Bobby of Lyman, SC; grandchildren: Joseph Kelly of Lyman, SC and Jenni Kelly of Eatonton, GA; great-grandchild: Journey Mae Kelly of Eatonton, GA; special friend: Luke Makita of Bluefield, VA.
A service to celebrate Mr. Thurston's life will be held Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jeff Stacy officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, WV. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Dudley Memorial from 12:00 noon until the hour of the service.
