JAMES ALLEN THOMASON

James Allen Thomason, 78 of Falls Mills, VA, passed away Sunday, February 01, 2026, at Pocahontas Center in Marlinton, WV.  Born in Falls Mills, VA, he was the son of the late William Estell Thomason and Nora Vada Mabury Thomason.  He had worked in the detailing department for Haun Motors early in his career.  Jim served his country in the United States Army, doing 2 tours in Vietnam during the war.  He was an active member of the VFW Post #9696 and had served as Public Affairs Officer. When he was able, he enjoyed fishing. He also liked to feed the deer and even a bear that would wander into his yard.  He was a member of Falls Mills Christian Church. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: William Cecil Thomason, Dorothy Ann Lester, Robert Thomason and Richard Thomason; his two daughters: Tonda Jennelle and Dianna Looper; son-in-law: Samuel Looper.

Those left to cherish his memory are: his longtime partner: Sharon Ziegler of Bluefield, VA; his grandchildren: Samantha Jennelle of Longs, SC, Allyson Jennelle of NC, Kaitlyn Jennelle of Bluefield, VA, Megan Jenelle of Cedar Bluff, VA, Cody and Faith Looper of NC; nephews: Gordon Leland Gillespie, Jr and his wife, Diane of Fayetteville, NC, Clarence Daniel Gillespie and wife, Dana of Fayetteville, NC and Brian Kelly Lester and wife, Kelly Jean of Sanford, NC;  his brother-in-law who was a special friend: John Lester and his wife, Sue; great-grandchildren: Kamryn and Jaxon Prasatek, Leigha and Colton Jennelle, Kyla, Kane and Kole Tackett and Collin and Nolan Shortt; son-in law: Michael Jennelle; a special thank you to his neighbors, who were like his family, Mike Graham and Pam McPeak, they made sure he knew he was loved and took care of him for many years.

In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated.  The family and friends will plan a military memorial service to be held at the VFW Building in Bluefield, VA. The details of this service will be posted when they are finalized.
