Obituary

James Lee (Jim) Thomason, age 78 of Bluefield VA passed away at his home. He was born July 9, 1937 in Princeton WV and was the son of the late Lewis and Irene Thomason. In addition to his parents he was proceeded in death by his brother Norman Thomason.
Jim was a graduate of Princeton HS and Bluefield State. He was a proud US Army veteran and also served as an Army Reserve recruiting officer. He worked several years at Superior Sterling and Pounding Mill Quarry and was a member of the Kiwanis Club.
Jim was an active member of Westminster EPC Church in Bluefield WV and considered them his second family. His church service to the Lord Jesus Christ are too numerous to mention in their entirety, but the following is a brief glimpse of his involvements at the time of his passing. He was currently an Active Elder, Chairman of the World Outreach Service Team, and sang in the church choir along with being a leader in his Sunday school class and small group.
Jim participated in many missions trips including destinations such as Uganda, Kazakhstan, Mexico and Jamaica. He was instrumental in organizing and conducting the annual missions conference and served as a board member for the Evangelical Presbyterian Church's denominational mission agency.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sister Thelma Johnston and her husband Beaman Johnston, brother Carl Thomason and his wife Joan Zaro. Nephews Jack Johnston, Scott Johnston, Brian Johnston, niece Carla Ann Johnston Keene, great niece Caroline Keene and many special friends and church family.
Memorial service will be held Sunday May 22 at 4:00 pm at Westminster Church with the Reverend Jonathan Rockness officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Missions Team. Dudley Memorial is serving the family.
