JAMES WALLACE GILLIAM

James Wallace Gilliam (Granddaddy), 91, of Autumn Way, Rupert, WV and formerly of Bluefield, VA, entered Heaven, Friday, May 31, 2019. He was preceded in death by his lovely wife of 57 years, Shirley; his parents, Burley and Inez Gilliam; 3 brothers; 6 sisters; son-in-law, George Bernard; grandson, Andrew Gilliam. He retired from the Norfolk Southern Railroad in 1988 and was a Navy veteran. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his son, Pastor Randy Gilliam and wife, Della of White Sulphur Springs, WV; daughter, Kaye Gilliam Bernard of Richmond, VA; 10 grandchildren, James Bernard, Emilee Dobbs, Sarah Flanagan, Matthew Gilliam, Joshua Gilliam, Amanda Milhorn, Isaac Gilliam, Hannah Gilliam, David Dixon and Elizabeth Pernod, plus 17 great-grandchildren.

Wallace's celebration of life will be held Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 6:00 P.M. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with his son, Rev. Randy Gilliam officiating. Donnie Hagy will provide the music. Visitation is Tuesday from 4:00-6:00 P.M. Mercer County Honor Guard will conduct Military Rites following the service. Entombment will be Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Grandview Mausoleum Chapel. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Grandview Mausoleum by 10:50 A.M. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and Paul Hart. Special thanks to the staff at Autumn Way for taking great care of Granddaddy.
