JAMES ROBERT GILBERT, JR (JIMMY)

James Robert Gilbert, Jr (Jimmy), 71 of Bluefield, VA, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2020 at his home surrounded by family, due to esophageal cancer. Born in Bluefield, WV, he was the son of the late James Gilbert and Pauline Cooper Sanford. He attended Bluefield Virginia Church of God. He retired as a warehouse supervisor at Kwik Kafe Vending Company. Jim was an avid sports fan. He loved attending Bluefield Beavers games, watching WV Mountaineers, Washington Redskins, New York Yankees and Boston Celtics. He enjoyed working in his yard and visiting with the neighbors. He loved his family and spending time with them. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather: Clay Sanford and brother-in-law: Jim Duncan.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 43 years: Ann Alley Gilbert; one son: Justin Gilbert and wife, Sabrina of Bluefield, VA; 4 beautiful grandchildren Avery, Reed, Nolan and Emri; 2 sisters: Nancy Duncan of Bluefield, VA and Hellen Mitchell of Myrtle Beach, SC; several nieces and nephews; special friends: Joe Bailey, Kathleen and Billy Farmer, Jerry and Tina Hawks and Patty Ramage; special little fur buddy: Jeter.

In keeping with the state and local guidelines concerning COVID-19, there will be a private family service at Dudley Memorial with Pastor Tony Ellis and Bryon Mayberry officiating. Burial will take place at Grandview Memory Gardens.
