Ida Pearl Durham 102, of Bluefield, Va. was born February 16, 1913 in Tazewell County, and passed away Tuesday May 5th, 2015 at her home.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Biney Neel and Effie Shrader Neel, her husband, Roy Durham, her siblings and Audney and Cletus Broyles, whom she was raised with as child and considered them her brothers and son-in-law, Jackson Lambert.
Mrs. Durham is survived by her four children, daughter, Darlene Smith of Tucson, Az. daughter, Gale and Richard French of Tucson, Az; son Larry and Janice Durham of Bluefield, Va. and daughter Sharon Lambert of Gainesville, Va.; her four grandchildren Trey Smith of Tucson, Az., Brian and Patti French of Tucson, Az.
Kelli and Al Vishnevetsky all of Tucson, Az. and Jill and Brian Smith of Gainesville, Va. She is survived by six great grandchildren as well as by a special niece Shelby and husband Cecil Lynch of Lilburn, Ga and special cousin Mary Wallace of Bluefield, VA.
Mrs. Durham was a member of Graham Christian Church since 1920. She was an active member until the age of 98. She was also a dedicated volunteer at St.Lukes Hospital having received the first Thomas F Frist MD Award for her compassion and willingness to help others.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children and grandchildren who will always cherish their wonderful memories of her and special caregivers: Brittany Hodges, Libby Miller & Wanda Yolcosuk.
A services will be held on Thursday, May 7 at 12:00 PM at Dudley Memorial Mortuary with The Rev. Gary Lyons officiating. The family will receive guests on Thursday at the funeral home from 11 am until the hour of service. She will be buried at Grandview Memory Garden, Bluefield, Va.
