HYLAND DOUGLAS BAILEY

Hyland Douglas Bailey passed away November 20 ^th , 2022 at 94 years old. He graduated from Bluefield High School and McLain's Business College. He retired from Sears in 1988. He was a Korean war and WW2 veteran. He was the recipient of the Army Service Ribbon, Korean Service Medal with five Bronze Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, and a Purple Heart Medal. Doug was a family man, who enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed bowling. He adored his late wife Rose. Doug had 13 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren whom he was very proud of. He leaves behind his son, Hyland Dean Bailey of Falls Mills, VA, and companion Debbie Lester, son Darrell Ernest Bailey and wife Debbie Bailey of Bluefield, WV, daughter Kay Bailey Hemmelgarn of Falls Mills, VA, daughter Twyllia Belcher and husband William "Smoky" Belcher of Nemours, WV and brother Tim Bailey of Bland, VA.   He is preceded in death by his two beloved sons, Richard Douglas "Dickie" Bailey and Keith O'Brine Bailey. He loved his dog known as "Miss Weenie". They shared a great bond together. Doug lived a long, fulfilling life and will be missed deeply by his friends and family.

A service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday November 26 ^th at Dudley Memorial Chapel at 12:00 PM with Pastor Darrell Bailey officiating. Friends may visit from 11:00 AM till the hour of service, burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens.
