Howard Allen Leedy (November 8, 1943-June 20 2026)

Passed away on June 20 after a brief and sudden illness. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla (Carter) Leedy, his daughter Nicole Leedy and son-in law Fredrick Morlan of Lexington, Ky and brother James Leedy of Bluefield Va. He was preceded in death by his father Robert J Leedy and mother, Audrey (Harris) Leedy, brothers Robert Leedy, Jr, Theodore Leedy and sister Mary Elizabeth Leedy. He was a long time member of the Springville Christian Church where he attended services regularly.

He was a graduate of Bluefield High School and went on to complete a Bachelor's of Science in Math at Bluefield State College.  He served in the United States Navy as a member of the integrated photography unit in the United States during the Vietnam War.

He served in various positions at the West Virginia Department of Highways Construction Division over 4 decades. Post-retirement, he went on to pursue his passion for gardening by completing a certificate in Master Gardening from the West Virginia Extension Service. In this role, he did extensive community outreach and met many new friends across the state.

He was a voracious reader, lover of animals, gardener, weather aficionado, storyteller and family man; he loved history and would encourage everyone to go as far in education as they could.

A service to celebrate Howard's life will be held Thursday June 25 at 7:00 pm at Dudley Memorial Chapel with minister Tony Reed officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 till the hour of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in his remembrance to your local library or gardening club.
