HERBERT CLENDENIN
Herbert Clendenin, 87, of Bluefield, WV, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at home. Born in Cliff Yards, VA, he was the son of the late B Charles and Myrtle Lambert Clendenin. He served his country in the United States Army in Germany and France during the Korean War. He was a National Guard Corporal for 6 years. Mr. Clendenin was a member of Ada Chapel, where he served as a Trustee and had worked for the City of Bluefield for 35 years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of more than 44 years, Rachel Mae Jeffery Clendenin; sons: Ivan and Chester Clendenin; daughter: Mary Mills; brothers: Robert and James Clendenin; sisters: Anna Mae and Reedy Clendenin.
Those left to cherish his memory are sister: Margie Clendenin Gillespie of Princeton, WV; daughters: Sandy Allen and husband, Steve of Damascus, MD, Teresa Grose and Anita Farley both of Bluefield, WV; son: Mark Clendenin of Bluefield, WV; grandchildren: Stephanie Luko, Doug Gross, Linda Crank, Ricky Farley, Shawna Ballard, Stephanie Johnson, Leah Bourne and Austin Clendenin; 9 great-grandchildren. Special friends his McDonald's breakfast and evening coffee buddies.
A service to celebrate Mr. Clendenin's life will be held Monday, January 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Rev James Bassett and Captain Jerry Lester officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Military grave rites will be conducted by the Mercer County Veteran's Council. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Dudley Memorial from 5-7 p.m.
