Obituary

Helene Krupey passed tranquilly from this life into Eternity in the early hours of Easter Sunday, April 5th 2015. Helene was born in Pennsylvania on August 9th, 1920, the daughter of Gregory and Anna Evanick. During WWII, Helene worked for the office of the quartermaster in Philadelphia. She later worked for the Commodities Credit Corporation on Wall Street in New York City, where she met her husband, Dr. Michael Krupey, a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. Helene and Michael, an Optometrist, moved to Bluefield, West Virginia and later to Bluefield, Virginia, where she spent most of her adult years.

Helene was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Michael Krupey, brother, John Evanick, (twin) sister, Marietta Simpkins, younger sister, Ann Angeloni, son in law, James Hudson Huffard Jr. and grandson, James Hudson Huffard III. Sister, Irene Castilani, of Peckville, PA is still living.

Helene Krupey is survived by her son, Michael Gregory (Teresa) Krupey, and daughter, Juliane Krupey "Judy" Huffard.

Surviving grandchildren include Michael Gregory (Jennifer) Krupey Jr., Angela (Kenneth G.) Barton, Gina (Patrick) Paine, Elliot Clay (Stan) Huffard, and Ellen (Brandon) Krupey Marshall.

Surviving Great-Grandchildren include Ashley Chambers, Taylor Chambers, Kage Barton, John Michael Krupey, Katherine Hope Krupey, Juliana Valentine Paine, and James Patrick Hudson Paine.

And first daughter-in-law, Nancy R. Agee.

Defying death throughout her life, as she was not supposed to live beyond her teens due to a heart ailment, Helene spent 94 inspired years on this earth as devoted wife and mother. Helene also served as President of the West Virginia Ladies Optometric Association, was as a member of the Ladies Lions Club Auxiliary and active member at Christ Episcopal Church in Bluefield.

Helene Krupey was the true model of love, godliness and patience and will be missed by family and friends whose lives she touched with her good humor and the fine quality of her character.

She will be remembered as a good Christian woman who was her family's inspiration. Her memory will be cherished.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Christ Episcopal Church, Bluefield, WV, at 3:00 p.m. with Rev Russ Hatfield officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday at the church from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
It is the family's request, that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to Christ Episcopal Church, 200 Duhring Street, Bluefield, WV 24701. The family will gather at the home of Nancy Agee, 4826 Lakeland Drive, Dublin, VA for a time of fellowship following the services.
