Harold J. Necessary, 82 of Bluefield passed away after a brief illness on Sunday February 26, 2023 in Princeton Community Hospital. Born on March 16, 1940, the son of the late Harry S. Necessary and Helen D. Necessary. He was preceded in death by his brother Jimmie S. Necessary.

He was a graduate of Graham High School and served in the U.S. Navy. After military service, he went on to have a successful career with the federal government, including the CIA in Miami, Department of Defense at The Pentagon and finishing his federal government career with The Small Business Administration in Washington, DC. After retirement from the federal government and returning to Bluefield, he worked for the Town of Bluefield, VA.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Necessary, sons Barry Necessary, Garry Necessary with his fiancé Wendy Bentrem, granddaughter Anna Mitchell, his brother Curtis Necessary and wife Carole, sister Ruby Yost, many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Military rites will be conducted on Tuesday, March 07, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel in Princeton, WV with the Mercer County Honor Guard officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday at Dudley Memorial Mortuary, Bluefield, VA from 12:30 P.M. until 1:30 P.M.
