GARNET ULYSES RILEY

Garnet Ulyses Riley, 87 of Bluefield, VA, passed away Wednesday, March 08, 2023 at Princeton Community Hospital.  Born in Horsepen, VA, he was the son of the late Walter Harvey Riley and Thelma Lockhart Riley.  Garnet was a valued member of the community. He was the owner of Riley Service Station for 44 years.  He was a kind, considerate gentleman, with a heart to help anyone in need. It was not uncommon for friends to stop by the garage, whether enjoying the sunshine on the bench out front or the warmth of the office inside, the motive was the same, just to sit and share heard gossip and "Chew the Fat" with Garnet.   He was truly loved by his family and friends of this community and will be missed by all. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Madeline Fay White Riley; brother and sister-in-law: Willis and Sara Riley; sisters: Goldeen Riley and Geraldine Riley.

He will be lovingly missed by his caregiver and faithful companion for 33 years: Karen Crigger; his son: Tim Riley and wife, Linda; Charles "Pud" Riley, who was like a son to Garnet; step-son: Billy Riley; grandchildren: Steven Riley and wife, Sarah and Timothy "Hot Rod" Meadows and wife, Kelly, LeAnn and Bryan Riley; great-grandchildren: Gavin and Korbin Riley; his cat: Baby Frances; and friends too many to be numbered.

A service to celebrate Garnet's life will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Dudley Memorial Chapel at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Joey Rowe officiating. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Bobby Hood, Steven Riley, Gavin Riley, Korbin Riley, Tommy Melvin and Charles Riley will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the hour of the service.
