FRANKIE HORTON SNELL
Frankie Horton Snell, 84 of Parkview Drive, Bluefield, VA, departed this life on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Frankie had been a resident of Bluefield, VA his entire life. He was an avid outdoorsman in his day. He loved hunting, working in his yard and on a small island he owned in back of his property. In his later years, health issues, including arthritis took its toll on his joints, for which he was treated at the Veteran's Hospitals in Beckley and Salem. He dearly loved all the friends he made there who were involved in his treatments and they loved him back. He loved the people of Bluefield, VA where he grew up and went to school, graduating from Graham High School. Frankie was known for his wit and sense of humor. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
With inexpressible love and undying gratitude to his cousins, Rodney and Betty Jo Scott and Walter and Brenda Scott for their help and support during this time of suffering and horrific loss. They demonstrated the embodiment of Christian love in action in the highest sense of the word. Special thanks to Chaplain Paul Bricker for his calls, his concern and offer of help. Frankie will be mourned and truly missed by everyone. Words cannot express the grief and love of his wife for him. He was her entire world. His cat, Smokey will be lost without him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Macie Mathena Snell and a sister, Betty Dugan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty Joe Sword Snell; nephew: Alan Burkett; special family member: Jay Mike Dawson, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
